Our Madrid Tapas Tour

Tour Description: Our goal is to leave you with an authentic and memorable feel for the city and its people through what we believe is the best way possible - eating and drinking like a local! We mix in a bit of light history and culture with some seriously good food and drink. Our tapas experts will advise you on the specialities in each Spanish bar we visit, providing a translation and explanation of each dish.

On our Madrid Tapas Tour we will visit four very different, but very Spanish bars, to enjoy the local specialties. Traditionally, tapas are done standing up, though we often try to book a sit-down table for our last stop. All bars are approximately 15 minutes walking distance from each other, though this usually takes longer as we regale you with fascinating local facts and anecdotes about Madrid and its culture while walking you through the streets of Madrid and giving you insider tips and ideas for the rest of your stay!

Duration: Tours last about four (4) hours and start at 8pm, ending around midnight.**

**Weekend lunchtime tours for larger groups are also available on request.

Meeting Place: Tours start from between the 2 metro entrances of Metro Opera in Plaza Izabel II (Map). Our tapas experts will arrive holding a bright yellow Adventurous Appetites flier to easily identify them.

Availability: Every Day (except Sunday).**

Group Size: We try to limit groups to an average maximum of ten (10) people, but this can be bigger in periods of high demand

We also organize dinners and activities for larger/corporate groups on request. Please see our Corporate / Group Tours page for details.

Pricing: The tour cost is GBP50 (or EUR70 per person if paid in cash on the night of your tour for last minute bookings only.) The price includes the first 'aperitivo' in a traditional Madrileño bar; however, additional food or drink is not included so that you have more control over what you choose to eat and how much you pay at each Spanish bar we visit.

On average, we calculate that you'll spend a total of around EUR35 on food and drink for your entire night and will have eaten and drunk to your stomach and heart's content! Also, Spanish tapas are made for sharing! So, our tour groups often put their money together in a pot at the start of the night, as this tends to be the easiest and best value way of doing things. This is decided by individuals on the night of the tour.

For groups of eight (8) or more, we also offer an all-inclusive (no spirits) tour for GBP85 (or EUR100 per person if paid in cash on the night of your tour for last minute bookings only.) Please send us an email if you would like to book an all-inclusive tour.

Booking: Please consult availability and book online through our online booking system. Bookings can be made for groups of up to 10 pax, If you have a larger party please contact us by email and we would be delighted to tailor-make an activity for your group.  Please see terms and conditions.

TOURS ARE NOT REALLY SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 17 YEARS

COVID-19

Although most Covid restrictions have been lifted in Spain, we will continue to monitor the situation and take basic precautions including serving food onto individual plates where appropriate.

A Special Message from our Founder:

Faced with Madrid’s hugely rich food culture, it is useful to have a tapas expert on hand to point you in the right direction, and we have selflessly committed to doing a substantial and somewhat unhealthy amount of research into Madrid's food and drink scene so that we can offer genuine expertise in these areas - just for you!

Although we often try to book a table for our last stop so that the group can sit down and eat in a more relaxed fashion, tapas is generally done standing up, leaning against the bar. And, the sit down stop is not always possible, particularly at weekends. Bars tend to be bustling with tapas eaters, all sharing plates of food, which will enable you to try a great variety of fantastically delicious tapas in an authentic atmosphere. We want to show you what real Spanish "tapassing" is all about; so, come prepared for a bit of craziness mixed with fun!

We aim to offer a personalized service; so, if you have any special requests or requirements, dietary or otherwise, please let us know, and we will be delighted to do our best to accommodate them. And, while we will always try to accommodate client likes and dislikes, we will also encourage you to push your boundaries to try new and amazing things.

At the end of the tour, we can either drop you off in a bar to continue your night with an after dinner drink of a brandy, Irish coffee, mojito, caipiriñha or the like, or point you in the direction of your hotel, meeting point or transport.

So, find the Madrileño in you, and bring your Adventurous Appetites!
